Bottle Brush II | West LA

When Isaac was little, I would point out all the local flora in our Santa Monica neighborhood and teach him the names. The only ones he consistently remembered were the Birds of Paradise and the Red Bottle Brush trees, and as such, they always make me think of him. This one was shot on a gloomy day in Spring and it evokes something bittersweet, something with the capacity to heal.

It doesn't surprise me that my favorite shots I've taken on my canon thus far are ones that remind me of Isaac. Sadly, because of the need to crop it to fit an 8x10, much of the composition that I adore is unseen. I still think it's a dope shot, and I can't wait to see it on your wall.
