Loquat Tree + Daytime Moon | West LA

"It seems at once indecent and alluring: this four-billion-year-old provocateur, naked in broad daylight, this nocturnal rock who dares to brave the dawn. A selenophile to my core, I adore the moon by night, but am admittedly further enraptured by observing her when least expected."
From "A Creature Enduring" | The Spectrum of Visible Light
A barely there daytime moon, framed by a Loquat tree in season. It turns out that shooting the moon on film with a fixed lens isn't the easiest endeavor, but I love the way Luna shows up in this shot: mysterious, gossamer, only visible to those who seek her out.
Loquats are a quintessential part of LA's landscape, and they're delicious, too. Because they are so tender, they bruise too much during transport to be sold in stores. If you're lucky enough to have one of these in your neighborhood, you'd be doing your neighbors a favor by harvesting the fruit—they are such prolific growers that it's impossible to pick them all before they over ripen and riddle the sidewalks.
